I'm back with another one of Jamie's 30-Minute Meals dishes. This one was his Cauliflower Macaroni dish, which he served with a green salad and a dessert, which, as usual, I didn't make. I decided not to bust a gut tonight trying to get it done in 30 minutes. In theory it should have taken 30 minutes because the total of the cooking was 11 minutes for the pasta and cauliflower and then 8 minutes in the oven with not a lot of preparation. But it still took me 45 minutes. Today I was reading another blog called Hotly Spiced and she also tried unsuccessfully to make one of Jamie's meals in 30 minutes. Her account of her attempt was hilarious and worth reading. Pregnant Jools’s Pasta and Chicory & Watercress Salad – Jamie Oliver 30-Minute Meals
Tonight felt like a triumph because I cooked one of Jamie's 30-Minute Meals in exactly 30 minutes, but of course that wouldn't be telling the complete truth because I didn't make the frangipane tarts for dessert. And who knows how long they would have taken to prepare and bake. But at least we didn't eat quite as late as usual. This pasta dish is kind of a quick version of a ragu. It all basically went into the food processor and came out all mushed up and then went into a frying pan with a few other ingredients. Very easy. This recipe is not low Fodmap. Broccoli Orecchiette and Courgette & Feta Salad – A Jaime Oliver 30-Minute meal
This one of Jamie's 30-Minute Meals took about 40 minutes but again I didn't make one of the components because it seemed an over-kill.He added a prosciutto and melon salad but I felt the pasta dish and the courgette salad were plenty and they were. In fact, for once we had leftovers, which is almost unheard of in our family. The original courgette salad had bocconcini but Adriano couldn't find any and so I used feta. I think the feta actually worked better than the bocconcini would have because the feta supplied a stronger flavour against the mild courgettes. The salad was excellent. The pasta was also very tasty but had anchovies which I can take or leave but I used them to stay authentic to Jaime's recipe and they did add something to the flavour. But I am sure they could be left out. This is not a low Fodmap recipe. Pasta with Ham, Cherry Tomatoes & Arugula
Sometimes the need for a good dish of pasta is strong. There are so many different sauces you can create that there's not really any need to go shopping specifically for the ingredients. I just look in the fridge and see what I have and create something based on what I find. Such is this recipe. I love the clean flavours of a sauce which is barely cooked and can be thrown together in a few minutes. This is not a low Fodmap recipe. Pasta with Ham, Cherry Tomatoes & Arugula Print Author: Suzanne Perazzini Ingredients Spaghetti Cherry tomatoes Arugula Garlic Parmesan Spring onions Olive oil Coriander (basil would be even better) Salt & pepper Pasta Method Boil the pasta until al dente and drain. Cook the spring onions in a little olive oil for a minute or two making sure you don't burn them. Add the garlic, ham and tomatoes and heat through. Mix the sauce with the pasta and season. Add the coriander and arugula at the last moment before eating. 3.2.2807 … [Read more...] about Pasta with Ham, Cherry Tomatoes & Arugula
Creamy Fusilli Salad with Sundried Tomatoes, Peas & Arugula
Adriano and I don't see eye to eye on anchovies and sundried tomatoes. I don't want anchovies in my pasta or on my pizzas and he doesn't want sundried tomatoes. But tonight he ate it in this dish and only grumbled a little. Arugula is my favourite green - I love its peppery taste and I would add it to almost anything. The pizza I always order in Italy is tomato, mozzarella and arugula. Nothing else. As far as I am concerned, less is more with pizzas and pastas. I found this recipe here. This is NOT a low Fodmap recipe. Creamy Fusilli Salad with Sundried Tomatoes, Peas & Arugula Ingredients: juice of 1/2 a lemon Zest of 1 lemon 125g sour cream 3 tbsp milk Tabasco sauce Salt and black pepper Fusilli pasta Arugula Sundried tomatoes, sliced Frozen peas Shaved parmesan Method: Boil the pasta as usual but towards the end, add the peas to cook them through. Mix together the first six ingredients to create the sauce. Drain pasta and add the sauce and all but a … [Read more...] about Creamy Fusilli Salad with Sundried Tomatoes, Peas & Arugula
Stir-fried Ginger Fish with Spaghetti – Low Fodmap
Adriano has the biggest race of the year this weekend - in terms of the distance anyway. He will be mountain biking for six hours straight. I know the routine by now - carbs before and protein afterwards so tonight it was pasta. I found this recipe in the Foodtown Magazine and it sure was tasty. Adriano said I had to cook it again but, for this blog, I need to cook something different every night. But he can cook it on his nights - the recipe has been passed over. No Dario tonight as he is at his girlfriend's but I am sure he would have approved as well.
