I love to travel and spend my vacations going to new and exciting places. Most of my trips have been amazing but below are a few stand out to be the best in the U.S. Read on to hear more about my most exciting and luxurious vacations.
The Hamptons
Full disclosure: I am nowhere near wealthy enough to afford a home here. In 2008, we had a family reunion and resolved to make it the best ever. With half the family polish, half Irish, and 100% drinkers, let’s just say it was a long weekend to remember. As a travel agent, one of my dear friends was able to secure us a great deal on a gorgeous Hamptons rental.
The house was amazing; 4 bedrooms, 5 baths, hot tub, pool and full outdoor kitchen and entertainment center. There was little need for us to leave the house, but a vacation mandates some vacation-type activities. A few of us went and checked out the sunny beaches. We had a wonderful time at Montauk State Park, where the lighthouse there is an attraction unto itself.
Disney World
They say Disney World is a wonderful place for kids, but not only that, it’s a magical place for adults as well! My boyfriend and I spent a very enjoyable week there to enjoy the sun and bring back some childhood memories. We tasted German beer in Epcot, danced til we dropped at the clubs in Downtown Disney and went on an African safari within the confines of Orlando at Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Disney World was surprisingly inexpensive. We went in the off-season and were able to negotiate a great package deal that included airfare, hotel, park passes and a rental car. You have to get the park-hopper. It’s the only way to do Disney. A package really does offer the best savings. We could have easily stayed another week and not run out of things to do!
Hawaii
If Heaven exists it must lie somewhere in Hawaii. I cannot describe the beauty of this place. We stayed in a moderately-priced hotel in order to save some cash and expected it to be somewhat lacking in certain areas. However, it was more than we expected. Our sliding door opened onto a private path to a public yet secluded beach perfect for snorkeling.
Away from the water there was still plenty to do. We hiked the mountains, shopped in quaint (and cheap!) village markets and even rose at 4 a.m. for a jeep tour of Diamond Head, where we toasted each other with Mimosas and watched the sunrise. Speaking of the sun, there is nowhere better on earth to watch a sunset than Magic Island on Ala Moana Beach in Oahu. It was absolutely breathtaking.
San Francisco
This is, hands down, my favorite vacation spot in the U.S. From the misty romance of Fisherman’s Wharf to the history of Alcatraz and the beauty of Golden Gate Park, I try to spend a weekend here annually. Start out with the Museum of Natural History and then head for some great shopping at the Cannery and Ghirardelli Square. Monkey Island at the San Francisco zoo is also a must-see! I’m a huge animal lover.
For an amazing view, check out the ruins of the Sutro Baths and don’t forget to watch the sunset from the Golden Gate Bridge!
I’ve been all over the country in search of the greatest vacation spots and in my travels I have found that the above places are truly the best of the best. Get out there and see for yourself!

San Francisco is a gem for sure! I’ve been there twice and still haven’t seen everything you mentioned.
