If you have irritable bowel syndrome, then you have to go on the low Fodmap diet and you have to make sure you do it 100% or it won’t work. Dabbling by going gluten and lactose-free won’t eliminate your symptoms. Watch the video to see what is entailed for you to reach your goals. Today, I want to talk about how lactose and gluten-free are not enough for IBS sufferers. Many people read about the low-FODMAP diet and decide to dabble in it. So they try going lactose-free - and that is one of the FODMAP groups - and they perhaps try to go gluten-free. And going gluten-free takes care of part of one of the other FODMAP groups, which is the fructans - which are found in wheat, barley, and rye. But that's not the complete picture. So often, even though you have taken all the lactose and wheat, barley, and rye out of your diet, you are still not feeling well. You might have felt a tiny bit of change, perhaps you've even convinced yourself that it has helped. But the fact is that if … [Read more...] about Lactose and Gluten-Free are not enough for IBS Sufferers

Stuffed Pita Breads – low Fodmap and gluten-free
If you can find some gluten-free pita breads, you can basically stuff them with anything you like. Last night I had left over ragu sauce that Adriano had made in the weekend and rather than have pasta again, I made these stuffed pita breads with the sauce, a coleslaw I made up, tomato and cheese. They were great and I even have one leftover for lunch today, which I am looking forward to. If you have no problems with sorbitol, you could add some mashed up avocado with lactose-free yogurt or sour cream like I did. I didn't add that until after taking them out of the oven so it didn't get cooked. Stuffed Pita Breads – low Fodmap and gluten-free Print Author: Suzanne Perazzini Ingredients Leftover ragu sauce - see recipe HERE Gluten-free pita breads ⅓ cabbage, sliced finely 1 carrot, grated 1 red chill, finely sliced ½ stalk of celery, sliced finely Mayonnaise (if you buy it, check the ingredients) 2 tomatoes Cheddar cheese Method Slice open the pita … [Read more...] about Stuffed Pita Breads – low Fodmap and gluten-free
Stress-Releasing Technique to Ease Your IBS Symptoms
If you have irritable bowel syndrome, it is very important to use stress-reducing techniques to deal efficiently with stress because stress affects our IBS and causes our symptoms to get worse. This is as crucial as the diet because, even if we are eating a perfect, tailor-made diet, we will have a return of our issues if we get stressed and do nothing about it. Today, I want to talk about relaxation techniques to reduce your stress so that you don't get IBS symptoms. We know that stress affects our gut. We have a faulty message system between our brain and our gut, and our gut overreacts to anything that it feels. So, stress, which for another person might mean a few butterflies in the gut, for us, can cause full-on symptoms. Even if we are eating a low FODMAP diet and doing it perfectly, we will get symptoms if we're stressed. So, we have to learn how to deal with the stress. We reduce it as much as possible in our lives of course, but we can't completely eliminate it, … [Read more...] about Stress-Releasing Technique to Ease Your IBS Symptoms
Spinach and Cheese Quesadillas – Low Fodmap and Gluten-Free
I enjoy many different cuisines and Mexican is among my favourites. If you eat low Fodmap, you do have to watch out for some of their ingredients like legumes and too much dairy but it is still possible to get the richness of the Mexican food while staying true to the low Fodmap diet. It's not hard to find gluten-free tortillas which are suitable for us these days, and cottage cheese and mature cheese are on the permitted lists as long as we don't overindulge. This is an easy, delicious dish which wouldn't go amiss even for guests and it seriously took me about ten minutes to put together. Oh, and it's vegetarian. Spinach and Cheese Quesadillas - Low Fodmap and Gluten-Free Print Author: Suzanne Perazzini Serves: 4 Ingredients 8 large gluten-free tortillas ⅔ cup cottage cheese 100 gms baby spinach leaves ½ an avocado (only if you have no problem with sorbitol), diced ½ a can of corn kernels, drained 1 tomato, chopped small 1 spring onion (green part … [Read more...] about Spinach and Cheese Quesadillas – Low Fodmap and Gluten-Free
Eating Out on the Low Fodmap Diet
Many people have great difficulty maintaining their social lives and eating out while on the low Fodmap diet for irritable bowel syndrome. In this video, I give you some very solid advice on how to make it an enjoyable experience. There are simple tips that you may not have even thought about. The Transcript Today I want to talk about eating out in restaurants and people's homes, et cetera. Many of the people on my coaching program complain about not being able to eat out with ease, that they get very anxious about eating out, and of course we know that stress causes IBS symptoms, so we're going to have a double whammy if we eat the wrong food plus we're stressed out. So, take some measures before you go out. If you're going out to eat at a friend's place, then make sure you take some food with you. Have you checked with her about your worst triggers? Don't tell her every detail about the diet because that will completely overwhelm her. But if at least you can talk about the … [Read more...] about Eating Out on the Low Fodmap Diet
