I had already decided on this Jamie's 30-Minute Meals recipe and given Adriano the shopping list when I went online to see if there was a video of Jamie making this meal and found quite a turn up for the books. Jamie has been slammed for this recipe for the high fat levels in it. Double a Big Mac, if that's possible. I'm not sure where it all is but it does have mince meat, cheese and bacon. The rest is all vegetables. So I cut out the cheese and reduced the bacon. The coleslaw with the purple cabbage was really good but I felt the sandwich was a bit dry though Adriano liked it just the way it was. I would still make a tomato sauce and add it for the moisture. This is the first Jamie meal that I didn't completely enjoy. He also included a salad with salad leaves, tomatoes, avocados, basil and feta cheese - this was really good but then again I love most salads. I have put the original recipe below. Jamie says it serves 4 but we had only one ciabatta loaf and it was plenty. This is … [Read more...] about Jamie Oliver 30-minute Meatball Sandwich and Pickled Cabbage

Jamie’s 30 Minute Beef Hash & Jacket Potatoes
Here we go again - the Jamie's 30-Minute Meals challenge. And this time I didn't leave anything out because there was no dessert, so I was pretty nervous we would be eating at midnight. There were four different dishes so it seemed a little overwhelming but I rolled up my sleeves, turned on the oven, got out all the ingredients and the food processor and started work. About 40 minutes later, I lifted my head and surprisingly it was all done. Not bad at all and a lot of food had been prepared. The family tucked in and were impressed. This is good homely style food which is perfect for the cold winter we are having. This is not a low Fodmap recipe. 4.3 from 3 reviews Jamie’s 30 Minute Beef Hash & Jacket Potatoes Print Author: Suzanne Perazzini Ingredients 4 baking potatoes Few sprigs of rosemary Sour cream (for the potatoes) 500g beef mince 2 sprigs of thyme 1 red onion 3 sticks of celery 2 carrots 4 cloves of garlic, minced 6 tablespoons … [Read more...] about Jamie’s 30 Minute Beef Hash & Jacket Potatoes
Moroccan Lamb Chops, Herby Couscous & Stuffed Peppers
I did it! I made this one of Jamie's 30-Minute Meals in 30 minutes. I cut out the drink but that should have taken all of 5 minutes so I believe I can pat myself on my back. Or Jamie can for having created at least one 30-minute meal. I do suspect that the wine I had at work might have loosened up my cooking muscles and made me relax because there were a lot of elements to this meal but none of them were complex. And once again it was delicious. The two sauces were a perfect accompaniment to the couscous and lamb. Jamie Oliver is a genius at flavours and I can recommend this as a meal which will be well received by all the family. Pregnant Jools’s Pasta and Chicory & Watercress Salad – Jamie Oliver 30-Minute Meals
Tonight felt like a triumph because I cooked one of Jamie's 30-Minute Meals in exactly 30 minutes, but of course that wouldn't be telling the complete truth because I didn't make the frangipane tarts for dessert. And who knows how long they would have taken to prepare and bake. But at least we didn't eat quite as late as usual. This pasta dish is kind of a quick version of a ragu. It all basically went into the food processor and came out all mushed up and then went into a frying pan with a few other ingredients. Very easy. This recipe is not low Fodmap. Pregnant Jools's Pasta and Chicory & Watercress Salad - Jamie Oliver 30-Minute Meals Print Author: Suzanne Perazzini Ingredients For the pasta 4 spring onions 1 carrot 1 stick of celery 1-2 fresh red chillies 1 x 6-pack of good-quality sausages (approx. 400g) 1 heaped teaspoon fennel seeds 1 teaspoon dried oregano 500g dried penne 4 cloves of garlic 4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar 1 x 400g tin of chopped … [Read more...] about Pregnant Jools’s Pasta and Chicory & Watercress Salad – Jamie Oliver 30-Minute Meals
Beef & Salad Ciabatta Sandwich
There was just Adriano and me tonight so I decided to do a left-over dinner, which always feels great. It clears out the fridge so I can start afresh. I asked Adriano to buy a ciabatta and I filled it with roast beef, tomato slices, avocado, salsa from last night, horseradish, alfalfa sprouts, lettuce and water cress. I made him two other sandwiches with cut bread because I knew 1/2 a ciabatta loaf would not be enough and, in fact, he ate the lot. I'll be back to a Jamie Oliver 30-minute meal tomorrow night and it will be Pregnant Jool's Pasta. It looks like something I might finally be able to make in 30 minutes. I will let you know. Beef & Salad Ciabatta Sandwich Print Author: Suzanne Perazzini Ingredients 1 Ciabatta 4 or 5 thick slices of roast beef 2 tomatoes 1 avocado Horseradish sauce A few tbsp of salsa Alfalfa sprouts Watercress Lettuce Salt & Pepper Butter (optional) Method Cut the loaf in half and slather one side with horseradish sauce. Steak Sarnie and Cheesy Mushrooms – Jaime Oliver Recipe
Recipe No. 3 and another success. This meal consisted of a steak sandwich, stuffed mushrooms, a beetroot salad and a potato dish. I felt there was no need for two carbohydrate sources so cut out the potatoes and I also didn't do the beetroot salad because I am not keen on beetroot. The other two dishes provided plenty of vegetables with the steak for protein. The two dishes I made took half an hour so I am guessing with the other two, it would be at 45 minutes plus.
