Irritable bowel syndrome affects every part of your life but also affects the lives of those close to you like you partner, your children and even your friends. See what you can do about it in this video. The Effect of IBS on Relationships Today, I'm going to talk to you about the effect that IBS has on your relationships. I deal with a lot of clients who come through my business, and so many of them have problems in their family life, in particular, and also problems with friends. And those problems are created by their IBS, not by the people concerned and not by themselves. With the friends, it's all about not being able to socialize with them as much as you would like. They invite you out for dinner at a moment's notice. You haven't got time to investigate the restaurant or ring them up and check on the menu and perhaps talk to the chef about what you could eat. Anything spontaneous like that just sends chills through your body. And the other thing is relationships within … [Read more...] about The Effect of IBS on Relationships
Pesto and Prosciutto Open Sandwich – Low Fodmap & Gluten-free
Like everyone else I have to put my thinking cap on each of my cooking nights (only 3 - husband and son do the others) and decide what to cook for dinner. Last night, I thought of all my favourite flavours and came up with this dish. The gluten-free bread rolls I make are linked to in the recipe ingredients. They can be made quickly and cooked while preparing the other ingredients like the pesto. This creates a rounded low Fodmap meal with all food groups covered. Simple, delicious and nutritious. … [Read more...] about Pesto and Prosciutto Open Sandwich – Low Fodmap & Gluten-free
How long before the Low Fodmap Diet Works?
I get asked this a lot. As usual, there is not just one answer but how long it takes for the low Fodmap diet to work and eliminate your irritable bowel symptoms depends on what type of IBS you have as well as on how accurately you do the diet. How long the diet takes to start working really depends on you, your type of irritable bowel syndrome and you individually. Because if you have diarrhoea, then everything is moving through your system really, really quickly and you are going to get results quickly. We are talking here about an accurate low FODMAP diet, not one where you're dabbling with it and perhaps just taking out a few things, or eating too many of the low FODMAP foods in one meal. Cranberry & Peanut Butter Truffles – Low Fodmap
I had a hankering for something sweet the other day and these are the result. I keep my sugar intake so low it's mostly at zero these days but when a hankering comes over me, it's better to make something healthy rather than reach for something processed which will upset my stomach. Have a look at the ingredients and see if you can spot the only thing that is not completely healthy. Yes, the maple syrup. It is low Fodmap in small quantities so I know I won't have an issue with these but maple syrup is still sugar however low Fodmap it is. 5.0 from 3 reviews Peanut Butter & Cranberry Truffles – low Fodmap Print Author: Suzanne Perazzini Ingredients 3 cups instant oats 1 cup smooth peanut butter ½ cup maple syrup 1 tsp vanilla essence ½ cup dried cranberries ½ cup walnuts, chopped Shredded coconut Method Mix together all the ingredients. The Video So what have I been up to now? I am always dreaming up new ways to help you sort your IBS issues and I have ONE MORE! This is such an obvious one that I am not sure why I haven't thought of it sooner. I always make my clients fill out a daily diary with a whole raft of information so that I can analyze it and identify food triggers and weaknesses in their routines. This is fundamental information for getting to the bottom of their issues and eventually getting them symptom-free. Without everything down on paper, it is almost impossible to see the patterns and rectify the mistakes and it's hard to build up a big picture of what is happening in your digestive system. This is one of the most important things you can do to help you eliminate your irritable bowel syndrome symptoms. You have to record what you eat and drink and your symptoms after each meal. On top of that you should be recording all the medication and supplements you take as well as your bowel … [Read more...] about IBS Daily Journal & Carrot and Pumpkin Vegetarian Soup
