Any regular visitors to my blog will know by now that if you have irritable bowel syndrome, then you will probably be helped by the low Fodmap diet. One way to test if you mal-absorb Fodmaps is to do a hydrogen breath test. In this video, I have explained what happens during the test and what they are testing for. The transcript of the video is below the recipe if you prefer to read about the test. Transcript of the Video Welcome to this video. Today, I'm going to talk about the Hydrogen Breath Test, which can test whether you have an intolerance to a couple of the FODMAPs, not all of them, but it will test for fructose and for lactose, and, in some places, it can also test for polyols or some of the polyols. I had it done in New Zealand, my home country, and that was not the case. They just test for fructose and lactose here. It's done over 3 days, and you have to stay there round about 3 hours for each of the days. So you have to set aside quite a space of time, and it's … [Read more...] about The Hydrogen Breath Test for Fodmaps & Baked Potatoes
How to deal with an Irritable Bowel Syndrome Episode and Low Fodmap Cheese Pockets
I have made video number four, and this one is full of tips on what to do if you have a belly ache from trapped wind, and life has turned to custard. Transcript of the Video – Dealing with an IBS Episode Welcome. Today I'm going to talk about when you have an IBS attack, and I'm going to give you a few tips on how to handle that. Let's say you've got pain and you've got trapped gas - that's normally what causes the pain and your muscles are cramping around that - or you're having to rush to the toilet all the time. Stay Calm The very first thing and the most difficult thing is to stay calm, because, as we know, stress irritates irritable bowel syndrome. It makes it worse, because those gut-to-brain signals get all very confused. If possible, stay calm. Don't just expect yourself to stay calm. Use some of those techniques, like deep breathing. That's the most immediate one that you can use. Deep breathing down into the base of your stomach confuses your body and makes it think … [Read more...] about How to deal with an Irritable Bowel Syndrome Episode and Low Fodmap Cheese Pockets

A Solution to IBS and Low Fodmap Raspberry Ice Cream
I have made a second video to follow on from the first one about the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) HERE. This one is about the solution to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), the low Fodmap diet, and I explain what Fodmaps are. You can watch it here or on Youtube by clicking in the bottom right-hand corner. Video Transcript Welcome. Today I'm going to tell you about the solution to Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and that is the Low FODMAP Diet.
